PUL Championship Qualification, Format
For the 2024 season, the top two teams from each division will qualify for the PUL Championship.
This decision comes after our November announcement of a new divisional structure. Our 11 teams will be competing within a two-division model this season: North and South. The North Division is composed of Indy Red, the Milwaukee Monarchs, Minnesota Strike, New York Gridlock Ultimate, Portland Rising, and Philadelphia Surge. The South Division includes Atlanta Soul, the Austin Torch, DC Shadow, Nashville NightShade, and Raleigh Radiance. Upon their return in 2025, Columbus Pride will join the South Division.
Qualification
The top two teams from the North and the top two teams from the South will advance to the PUL Championship. The divisional rankings will be determined by overall win-loss record in the regular season (winning percentage will be used if any games are canceled). Win-loss record will include cross-divisional matches, and repeat opponents will be treated the same as all other games.
In the event of a tie, the first tiebreaker will be head-to-head record. The second tiebreaker, in order to account for strength of schedule varying for each team, will be the USAU algorithm (all games will be weighted equally, i.e. no adjustment for timing within the season). Should three or more teams tie, once any team is eliminated, the evaluation will return to the head-to-head record for the remaining teams followed by the USAU algorithm, if needed. The USAU algorithm will not be included in standings until the completion of Week 7 (May 18-19).
PUL Championship Format
Seeding for the PUL Championship will be determined by the divisional rankings as described above. The semifinals will be cross-divisional matchups with the North Division champion facing the second place team from the South Division and vice versa.
The location for the PUL Championship will be announced later this month with tickets going on sale shortly thereafter.
