PUL Ruleset Updates for 2024
Each off-season the PUL Gameplay Committee, composed of PUL Board Members, meets to discuss possible additions, modifications, and/or clarifications to the PUL ruleset.
For the 2024 season, the following modifications have been applied:
Defensive fouls at the end of the fourth quarter: Uncontested or upheld defensive fouls in the endzone will result in the offense being awarded the disc. They may attempt one throw, with a stall count enforced and game clock remaining at 00:00.0.
Time limits during contested foul calls: The stated time limit for player discussion of contested calls is increased to 20 seconds. The game clock will stop once those 20 seconds have passed (with the existing exception during the last 2 minutes of the fourth quarter, when the clock stops immediately for all calls).
The following clarifications have been added:
Pre-game coin flip: The winner of the pre-game flip may choose to receive/defer or start in the endzone position (i.e. same as USAU/WFDF rules).
Callahans at the end of quarters one through three: The rules now make explicit that Callahans occuring after the clock has reached zero in quarters one through three will count as a goal, and they will end play for the quarter.
False start: “Offside by the receiving team” has been renamed “false start” to match the language used by USAU.
You can view the complete ruleset here. More info on the league standings and playoff structure will be announced in early March. In the meantime, take a look back at our November announcement regarding divisional structure changes.
